Get to Know Me
Ever since I was young all I have wanted to do is help people. Having studied psychology and then going on to complete a Social Work diploma I was able to fulfil this ambition and I have enjoyed an amazing 20 year career in social work and social care as a practitioner and laterally as a manger supporting children and families.

However, back in 2019 my own mental health took a dip and I found myself struggling with my job which at the time I thought was mainly due to stress. I just didn’t feel that I was capable anymore and found myself crying on my way to work, locking myself in the toilet at work and crying on the way home. It got so bad that I even spoke to my manager about leaving. It wasn't the first time I had experienced feeling this way and that what I was experiencing was anxiety. Thankfully with a bit of support and a whole lot of self-awareness I discovered the root cause of my anxiety. I have struggled with my hormones throughout my life and I can track almost all episodes of poor mental health to hormonal changes (including experiencing pregnancy loss). So this episode set me off on a new path, I knew that I wanted to help other people like me who were suffering from anxiety.

So, in 2020, I applied to go back to University to study Counselling. I went from feeling like I couldn’t cope with my job to studying, doing a placement, working part-time as a manager and home schooling my children during a pandemic. It wasn’t easy, especially as it became more apparent that I was in peri-menopause, but I had set my mind on this path.

So here I am a qualified counsellor and I want nothing more than to use all my experience to help others who are suffering with anxiety, low mood, low self-confidence or self-esteem. I would love support you to understand the root cause of your anxiety and find a path to feeling more confident and able to handle whatever life might bring your way.
